James was born in London, educated in England, studied languages in Europe and first visited Australia in 1974. In 1976 he made Sydney his home where he is now based.
Since 1979 James has become a keynote speaker within the Australian Training and Business Advisory industry, helping companies identify the key developmental requirements of their people and delivering both in-house training and open workshops for the IT, telecommunications, banking and manufacturing industries.
In 1985 he developed and delivered a consultative/strategic selling programme for the Australian banking industry and worked with Citibank, Westpac Banking Corporation and the Reserve Bank of Australia to instil a customer/sales focus and service culture.
From 1991 to 1994 he worked with the Achieve Global Group, a training/consulting division of the Times Mirror Corporation. His clients included Lion Nathan Brewing, NZI Insurance, Telstra Corporation, The ANZ Banking Group, IBM and Ernst & Young.
In 1994 he formed Rickard Stanhope, an executive search and training company specialising in high level recruitment, strategic selling and delivery of exceptional customer service. His clients included Deloitte Consulting, The Bank of America, PricewaterhouseCoopers, British Telecom and News Corporation. In addition, he was engaged by Accenture to improve their interviewing/hiring processes and worked with The Boston Consulting Group to help develop their behavioural interviewing techniques and interpersonal/communication skills.
From 1998 he was invited to roll out the senior management selection process worldwide for Cisco Systems, commencing in delivery of strategic and tactical management development in Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Australia. He was also responsible for keynote presentations on recruitment, selection and training for Hewlett-Packard, PricewaterhouseCoopers and PeopleSoft Asia Pacific.
James has been a regular presenter for the TEC Group ‘The Executive Connection’ a worldwide membership group of CEO’s (turnover $20 – $100 million) on hiring, training and sales/service strategy. He is one of only 17 presenters in the world to achieve a ‘100% success’ evaluation in TEC’s 21-year history.
James has been a key Faculty member/Business Adviser working in Europe with The Royal Bank Of Scotland/Nat West since 2000 and has delivered keynote presentations to over 470 companies and practical recruitment/selection and sales/service strategies to small and medium sized businesses worldwide. His hobbies include writing music, playing the guitar, swimming/surfing and languages. He is fluent in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Arabic and Italian. He has a 25 year background in sales, service and management and has helped numerous companies increase productivity and revenue.
