Michael Donovan

Michael Donovan, has a solid 30 years of practical business experience with emphasis on strategic and business planning / complex project management / corporate restructuring, innovative marketing and finance. He has worked in and consulted to government, tourism, accommodation and the arts for nearly all of that time. His career started in banking several years in the film industry, followed by the arts, public administration and tourism.

Michael Donovan has worked extensively within Australia and the UK, USA and Asia. Michael has undertaken the planning and implementation of large-scale projects ranging from the NSW Bicentennial to the establishment of visitor & convention bureaux and convention centres. He has produced film, television and theatre, managed some of the icon arts companies in Australia and created plans for the establishment and preservation of important environmental resources.

Michael has also lectured, facilitated and trained across a very broad range of subjects from board governance to international marketing, corporate restructuring to IT implementation. Until recently he was the head of the Australian faculty of global executive business mentoring group Merryck & Co.

Michael Donovan retired in 2000, as Chief Executive of Best Western ®Australia (second largest accommodation group in the country). During this period he represented Australia on a number of committees within the International Executive. His work in developing an integrated e-commerce strategy for the group saw Best Western awarded the National Technology Award for the Best Use of E-commerce in achieving Business Goals in 1999.

Michael Donovan has formal media communication training; holds government endorsed education & training certification and is certified in TMS. His style is e ngaging, entertaining, very often challenging, always imaginative and very practical.
